"Secret Cinema has created a new way of experiencing film. The fusion of film and theatre allows for a much more powerful experience and adds an incredibly unique dimension for the audience. It certainly did for me. I was blown away” - Kevin Spacey

Attention Citizens,

Secret Cinema presented The Battle of Algiers at the Old Vic Tunnels under Waterloo Station.

Over 12,000 Citizens traveled to Algiers through the checkpoints into the secret alleyways of the Casbah and the splendour of the French Quarter. Those that did not have the correct papers were arrested and taken away.

Following an incident at the French Embassy, citizens were taken into hiding to watch one of the most important and relevant political films of the last century.

The French army documented these times here and a videographer captured this footage. The State asks that you send any photographic evidence which you may have captured here.

Thanks to our friends at both L'institut Français and The Algerian Embassy for their informal support of this show.

Secret Cinema will return this Summer.

Remain United.
