Charity & Community

Secret Cinema creates world-class immersive productions in unusual spaces, transforming building and parks into spectacular venues. These spaces are usually in areas with a limited cultural provision, lacking creative infrastructure and other resources.

Secret Cinema is developing new ways of opening up its spaces to local communities, with a particular focus on empowering young people.

Currently, Secret Cinema delivers immersive education and training initiatives, local employment and discounted and free tickets. It draws attention to key social issues through targeted charity partnerships. Increasingly, it is providing young people with the resources to create their own projects.

Key Achievements

This explored the impact of a 1 year Secret Cinema residency at The Printworks building in Canada Water.

“What Secret Cinema, YOU and everyone involved created at Canning Town over the last few months has been priceless. You gave them an insight into another world, a creative one that could open doors for them in the future, that they would never have believed had they not experienced it. For that alone, it truly was great!”

– Jane Nugent, Curriculum Adviser, New Vic

“I saw all the stuff, had done all the research but nothing prepares you for the world. It’s’s ridiculous, it’s breathtaking, it’s wonderful. It feels like one massive family, like you’re part of a team. It feels like a community. It’s really cool.”

– Cameron, Local Employment (Workplace)

“Everyone was so welcoming and I really felt like I was part of the Secret Cinema family. Massive thanks to the whole team for creating the opportunity, I highly recommend the experience to anyone who is thinking of going into a career in the arts or events!”
